I love to photograph newborns...it's like time stops and all that matters is the tiny, brand new little person...I remember that is how it felt having my own boys...I remember coming home from the hospital and it was strange to realize that the world had continued on while we were there...didn't they realize what had just happened?!? :) So when the opportunity came up for me to photograph this truely amazing event that is so incredibly tricky for me to even put into words, I was more than excited and honored. And now, exactly 2 years later, on Nash's birthday...I again find myself in awe.

Here are a few more images of the most amazing Shelbie and baby G only one day from making his grand entrance. Isn't Shelbie GORGEOUS?!?? I remember I could just FEEL how excited she was for G to finally get here already...and then he did...the very NEXT day!!! Thanks again for being up for anything Shelbie!

I just had to let you all know that we are alive and well here at Wondertime Photography and in the Rasmussen family! Things are crazy busy around here, but that's how we like it! We are so grateful for all that we have, especially our boys, Kai and Finn. It was great fun watching their pre-school performances this past week...3 and 4 year olds up on stage are such a hoot and so stinkin' adorable...speaking of adorable, here is a sneak peek of Baby "G" who arrived this spring. We worked hard for this shot, but I think it was TOTALLY worth all the hard work, don't you think so? G's mom totally rocks and cracks me up too...hope you are getting some rest with all those boys! :) *hugs* ~M

Once upon a time, in a {photo} land far far away, I had my first digital camera. It was a swell camera...it had to be, it was a Canon! It was the Canon Powershot Pro 70 - a whopping 2.1 megapixels! But seriously, I was in love with the instant gratification, as most people are. Then a friend at work told me about a site called Digital Photo Contest (DPC for short) and I started to learn. I met lots of people who helped me and encouraged me with my new passion in life...including my great friend, photography mentor and business partner, David Harvey.
This was WAY back in the days of Y2K....remember that? When the world was gonna end because all the computers were gonna blow up at stroke of twelve? Heehee. Anyhoo...DPC sorta disappeared with alot of drama, but thankfully a handful of people kept the dream alive *chuckle* and started what is the now the alive and kicking - Digital Image Cafe (DIC for short.)
I highly suggest you check it out and join (only $29/yr) and participate at whatever level is right for you. Anyone from beginners to professionals are welcome to join and there are some seriously KICK-BOOTY prizes that they give away! I just recently started entering a few of my images when my incredibly talented hubby started to shoot with me, and we struck up a "friendly" little competition. Heehee. I entered one of my favorite images:
I was excited to see it win Photo of the Day in the People Category...then I was SUPER excited to see it win Photo of the Month and I won and LENSBABY Muse (worth like $150 buckaroos) and now I am like dancin' a jig in my livingroom because this image was selected as Photo of the Quarter and awarded the top prize - a MITSUBISHI Printer and 2 - 20x30 Color Enlargement Prints from Color Enlargement.com. I am not sure which exact printer yet, but I think it's worth at least $1800!!! Holy Smokes - I am SOOOOOO excited...this is such an honor to be chosen and such an incredible prize on top of that! Yipee!
Thanks again to Dave for helping me create this image in the studio and to Baby "J's" awesome mom for bringing her ideas and allowing me creative freedom to create this beautiful image of her brand new little man. Thanks to DIC for all of your hard work in finding such awesome sponsors and for nurturing photographers of all levels.

Just wanted to share another favorite photo from my recent newborn location session. Because little "S" showed up a month early, mom and dad were in the middle of getting a new wooden floor put in their home, so as you can imagine it was a tad bit hectic there for a few days!
